A number of companies in the north-west have secured London 2012 construction work, it has emerged.
One of the main beneficiaries is Bolton-based Watson Steel, a steel fabrication company, which has been contracted to supply the steelwork at the Olympic Stadium.
Elsewhere, Manchester-based Icopal has supplied 10,000m of geomembrane to help tackle the issue of Japanese Knotweed at the Olympic Park.
Olympic Delivery Authority chairman John Armitt said that construction work companies in the north-west were "already winning gold from London 2012".
"Businesses of all sizes and from every sector are working together to deliver the largest project this country has seen for generations and are reaping the benefits of millions of pounds of work," he commented.
Mr Armitt went on to say that there were still "golden opportunities up for grabs" which spells good news for those seeking Olympic construction jobs.
